Argentina Current Account Deficit Narrows Sharply
Argentina’s current account deficit narrowed sharply to USD 2.56 billion in the second quarter of 2019 from USD 8.50 billion in the same period a year earlier. The goods account shifted to a USD 4.16 billion surplus from a USD 1.69 billion gap a year earlier and the services shortfall declined to USD 1.49 billion from USD 2.63 billion. Meanwhile, the secondary income surplus narrowed to USD 0.08 billion from USD 0.49 billion in the first quarter of 2019 and the primary income deficit rose to USD 5.31 billion from USD 4.65 billion.

Argentina’s current account deficit narrowed sharply to USD 3.85 billion in the first quarter of 2019 from USD 9.37 billion in the same period a year earlier. The goods account switched to a USD 2.56 billion surplus from a USD 1.65 billion gap a year earlier and the services shortfall declined to USD 1.71 billion from USD 3.40 billion. Also, the secondary income surplus widened to USD 0.28 billion from USD 0.17 billion in the first quarter of 2019. In contrast, the primary income deficit rose to USD 4.99 billion from USD 4.49 billion.

Argentina Current Account Deficit Smallest in 4 Years
Argentina’s current account deficit narrowed sharply to USD 2.32 billion in the fourth quarter of 2018 from USD 9.27 billion in the same period a year earlier. It was the smallest current account shortfall since the last quarter of 2014, as the goods account switched to a surplus of USD 3.26 billion from a USD 2.43 billion gap a year earlier and the services account shortfall declined to USD 1.31 billion from USD 2.22 billion. Also, the primary income account deficit fell modestly to USD 4.68 billion from USD 4.73 billion and the secondary income account surplus widened to USD 0.41 billion from USD 0.01 billion.
