Germany Inflation Rate Down to 0.2%

German annual inflation rate is expected to slow to 0.2 percent in December of 2014 from 0.6 percent in the previous month. It is the lowest rate since October of 2009 supported by falling energy prices.

According to preliminary estimates, energy prices are likely to decline 6.6 percent, compared to a 2.5 percent drop in November and food cost is estimated to fall 1.2 percent after being flat in the previous month. In contrast, prices of services are expected to increase 1.4 percent. 

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are estimated to be flat. 

The harmonized consumer price index is expected to increase by 0.1 percent in December 2014 compared with the same month a year earlier. From the previous month, prices are also expected to rise 0.1 percent.
