Compared to December 2014, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 11.1 percent, following a 11.2 percent increase in the previous month. Also, cost of transport went up by 1 percent, after dropping 0.2 percent in November. Additional upward pressure came from: clothing and footwear (+4.1 percent); furnishings and household equipment (+3 percent); restaurants and hotels (+3.9 percent); miscellaneous goods and services (+3.4 percent); and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.2 percent). By contrast, prices of housing, water, electricity and gas fell 0.3 percent.
Annual core inflation rate was recorded at 2.4 percent, up from 2.3 percent in November.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.5 percent, easing from a 0.8 percent growth in the precedent month, as cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a slower pace (+0.6 percent from +1.9 percent in November).
