French shipments fell by 2.1 percent year-on-year to €35.6 billion, driven by lower sales of industrial machinery, military equipment and pharmaceuticals. Sales of petroleum products and cars rebounded from the previous month's fall.
Exports to the European Union increased due to higher sales of aircraft to Spain, Italy and Germany. Shipments to North America, South America and Asia decreased mainly due to lower pharmaceuticals sales.
Imports fell 0.9 percent year-on-year to €41.3 billion as manufactured goods purchases dropped sharply. Purchases of energy products, cars and electronics were slightly up.
