Mexico Annual Inflation Rate Hits 7-month High in January


Mexican consumer prices rose 4.48 percent in the year through January up from 4 percent reported in December. During the month prices increased 0.89 percent.


On year, the biggest price increases were reported for communication and transport (+11 percent), energy (+9.7 percent) and fruits and vegetables (+10.5 percent). The cost of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 4.6 percent, education by 4.3 percent and housing by 4.6 percent. 

The core index, which strips out some volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.85 percent during the month.
