The number of unemployed people rose by 4,301 from the previous month, or 3.6 percent, to 123,962 in January. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment fell by 25,199, or 16.9 percent.
Also, the number of jobseekers went up by 2,175, or 1.1 percent, to 200,125; but dropped by 13,000 year-on-year, or 6.1 percent.
Youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 15 and 24 years old, was unchanged at 2.4 percent in January, with the number of young unemployed rising by 291, or 2.2 percent, to 13,463. Compared to January 2018, it decreased by 3,082 people, or 18.6 percent.
When adjusted for seasonal factors, the unemployment rate stood at 2.4 percent in January, unchanged from the previous month.
