Gasoline was almost 13 percent cheaper in January than in the same month a year earlier. Also, the price of gas is now 2.8 percent lower than last year.
Prices of clothes and food also had a downward effect on inflation. Due to the mild weather, there was less demand for winter clothing and foods in supermarkets were sold with higher discount.
Core inflation, which strips out process of food and energy was 1.0 percent in January.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.9 percent, after a 0.2 percent drop in the previous month.
