Netherlands Unemployment Rate at 2-Year Low


Dutch seasonally adjusted jobless rate was recorded at 7.2 percent in January of 2015, unchanged from a revised 7.2 percent in the previous month. It is the lowest figure in two years.

Figures for December were revised downwards to show unemployment at 7.2 percent from 8.1 percent initially reported. 

In January, the number of unemployed persons increased slightly to 645 thousand from 643 thousand in the previous month as more people started looking for a job. 

A year earlier, unemployment was recorded at 8.6 percent. The number of unemployment benefits decreased by 458 thousand (-0.6 percent).
