On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of people entitled to unemployment benefits (the Live Register) recorded a monthly decrease of 4,300 (-1.2 percent) to 355,600.
In unadjusted terms there were 355,124 people signing on the Live Register in February 2015. This represents an annual decrease of 42,945 (-10.8 percent).
The number of long term claimants was 162,776. The number of male long term claimants decreased by 16,836 (-13.6 percent) in the year to February 2015, while females decreased by 884 (-1.6 percent), giving an overall annual decrease of 17,720 (-9.8 percent) in the number of long term claimants.
54.2 percent of all claimants were short term claimants. The comparable figure for February 2014 was 54.7 percent.
There were 72,155 casual and part-time workers on the Live Register in February 2015, which represents 20.3 percent of the total Live Register. This compares with 20.4 percent one year earlier.
