Poland Unemployment Rate at 13.9%



In February of 2014, Polish jobless rate slowed marginally to 13.9 percent from 14 percent in January. It is the first decline in six months.

The number of unemployed people totaled 2.26 million, almost unchanged from the previous month, but down by 80 thousand (-3.5 percent) over a year earlier. 

Employment in the enterprise sector rose 0.7 percent over a year earlier and 0.2 percent over January to 5733 thousand people.

Year-on-year, job gains occurred in the manufacturing sector (+31 thousand), water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (+4 thousand), trade (+17 thousand), transportation and storage (+3 thousand), information and communication (+6 thousand), real estate activities (+1 thousand) and administrative and support service activities (+16 thousand). 

On a monthly basis, except for construction (-7 thousand), real estate, information and communication and mining (unchanged), all other activities added more jobs.
