Portugal Inflation Rate Steady at 0.9%


Consumer prices in Portugal are expected to increase 0.9 percent year-on-year in March of 2019, the same as in February, as cost of energy rebounded and prices of unprocessed food rose at a softer pace, preliminary estimates showed.

Prices of energy are expected to rebound 1.3 percent (-0.7 percent in February) and cost of unprocessed food is seen rising at a softer 2 percent (2.1 percent in February).

Annual core inflation rate, which excludes prices of energy and unprocessed food products is expected to decrease to 0.7 percent from 1 percent in February.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are set to rise 1.8 percent, after a 0.2 percent drop in the previous month.

Harmonized consumer prices likely rose 0.8 percent year-on-year, below 0.9 percent in February and are seen increasing 2.1 percent month-over-month after a 0.3 percent drop in February.
