Japanese Unemployment Rate Stable at 3.6%

In March of 2014, the seasonally adjusted jobless rate in Japan was unchanged at 3.6 percent, the lowest rate in more than six years.

The number of unemployed persons was 2.46 million in March, a decrease of 340 thousand or 12.1 percent from the previous year.

The labor force increased 0.3 percent over a year earlier and the number of people not in the labor force fell 0.5 percent. The number of employed persons was 62.98 million, an increase of 520 thousand or 0.8 percent from the previous year. 

The job-to-applicant ratio was 1.07.
