Swiss Jobless Rate Edges Down in April


Swiss unadjusted jobless rate declined to 3.3 percent in April of 2015 from 3.4 percent in the previous month as the number of jobseekers and unemployed went down.

In April, there were 141,131 unemployed persons enrolled at the regional employment centers, about 3,977 fewer than in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment increased by 4,044 persons (+2.9 percent). 

The number of jobseekers totalized 199,346 in April of 2015, recording 4,920 persons fewer than in the previous month and up 6,517  persons from a year earlier (+3.4 percent).

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years) decreased by 719 persons (-4.0 percent) to 17,482 persons, and rose  by 760 persons (+4.5 percent) from a year earlier.
