In March, the country exported goods to the value of 107.0 EUR billion, while imported goods to the value of 80.9 EUR billion.
Germany dispatched goods to the value of 62.6 EUR billion (+1.7 percent year-on-year) to the Member States of the European Union, while it received goods to the value of 53.9 EUR billion (-2.1 percent) from those countries. Goods to the value of 38.9 EUR billion (+1.0 percent) were dispatched to the Euro area countries while the value of the goods received from those countries was 36.7 EUR billion (-2.8 percent). Sales to EU countries not belonging to the Euro area increased by 2.9 percent to 23.7 EUR billion while the value of the goods which arrived from those countries was 17.2 EUR billion (-0.4 percent).
Exports to countries outside the European Union amounted to 44.3 EUR billion in March 2016 (-3.4 percent), while imports from those countries totaled 27.0 EUR billion (-8.3 percent).
In February 2016, the country posted a downwardly revised 20.2 EUR billion trade surplus.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, exports rose 1.9 percent in March 2016 while imports fell 2.3 percent. That brought the trade surplus to 23.6 EUR billion.
