Italy Unemployment Rate at 12.6%


Italian seasonally adjusted jobless rate was recorded at 12.6 percent in April of 2014, stable from a downwardly revised 12.6 percent in March.

In April, 22.295 million persons were employed, down by 0.3 percent over the previous month. The employment rate fell 0.2 percent to 55.4 percent.

Unemployment reached 3.216 million, -0.4 percent with respect to the previous month and the number of inactive people grew 0.6 percent year-on-year.

Youth unemployment increased to 43.3 percent (42.9 percent in March).

First-quarter unemployment rate rose to 13.6 percent, the highest level since 1977.
