The number of unemployed declined 0.4 percent to 1,211,507 persons and employment edged down 0.5 percent to 3,518,858 persons. The number of inactive increased 0.5 percent to 3,347,358 persons in March.
A year earlier, unemployment rate was recorded at 26.9 percent. The number of unemployed persons fell 6.2 percent while employment rose 0.4 percent. The number of inactive persons rose 0.4 percent.
Unemployment affected mainly people aged 15 to 24 years in March 2015 as 49.7 percent of young active population was unemployed. Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 56.4 percent a year earlier.
The unemployment rate for males decreased 1.4 p.p. to 22.7 percent from 24.1 percent in March 2014 and for females it was down by a slower 1.2 p.p. to 29.3 percent when compared to 30.5 percent last year.
