The non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Switzerland declined for the third consecutive month in May, dropping to 3 percent from 3.1 percent in April.
In May, the number of people registered for unemployment benefits decreased by 4 561 from April, to 131 290. Job seekers totaled 18 5012, down by 5 355 from April.
The number of job vacancies also decreased to 14 808 in May from 16 135 in the previous month.
Compared to April, youth (15-24 year-olds) unemployment decreased by 1 335 persons (-7.5 percent) to 16 477. Compared to the same month last year, this represents an increase of 957 persons (+ 6.2 percent).
The number of persons who had exhausted their entitlement to unemployment benefit during the month of March of 2013 was 2 861.
When adjusted for seasonal factors, the unemployment rate rose to 3.2 percent, according to data released by SECO.
