Exports of goods amounted to 92.0 billion euros and imports reached 74.3 billion euros in May of 2014. After calendar and seasonal adjustment, sales decreased by 1.1 percent and imports by 3.4 percent compared with April of 2014. Year-on-year, exports increased 4.3 percent, while imports decreased 0.4 percent.
In May of 2014, Germany dispatched goods to the value of 53.1 billion euros to the Member States of the European Union, while it received goods to the value of 48.5 billion euros from those countries.
Compared with May 2013, dispatches to the EU countries increased by 6.1 percent, while arrivals from those countries were down by 0.2 percent. Goods to the value of 33.7 billion euros (+4.2 percent) were dispatched to the Euro area countries in May, while the value of the goods received from those countries was 33.1 billion euros (–3.2 percent). In May of 2014, goods to the value of 19.4 billion euros (+9.4 percent) were dispatched to EU countries not belonging to the Euro area, while the value of the goods which arrived from those countries was 15.4 billion euros (+7.0 percent).
Exports of goods to countries outside the European Union amounted to 38.9 billion euros in May, while imports from those countries totaled 25.8 billion euros. Compared with May of 2013, exports to third countries increased by 2.1 percent, while imports from those countries decreased by 0.8 percent.
