Italy Inflation Rate Stable at 0.2%


Consumer prices in Italy are expected to rise 0.2 percent year-on-year in July of 2015, the same rate as in June, in line with market expectations.

Main upward pressure came from prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+3 percent, the same as in June), restaurants and hotels (+1.3 percent, +1.6 percent in June), food and non alcoholic beverages (+0.7 percent , +1.0 percent in June).

In contrast, downward pressure came from communication (-3.2 percent, -2.1 percent in June), transport (-1.8 percent, -1.6 percent in June) and housing and utilities (-0.3 percent, -1.3 percent in June).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are expected to decline 0.1 percent compared to 0.2 percent growth in June.

The harmonized index rose by 0.4 percent compared to the previous year (+0.2 percent in June), and decreased by 1.9 percent over the previous month (+0.2 percent in June).
