The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 141,100 in July 2017, up from 139,900 when compared to the June 2017 figure and a decrease of 35,800 when compared to July 2016.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for males was recorded at 7.2 percent, up from 7.1 percent in June and down from 9.3 percent a year earlier; while for females it was recorded at 5.4 percent, unchanged from the previous month and down from 6.6 percent in July 2016. The number of males unemployed increased by 700 from the previous month to 86,700, while the number of females unemployed went up by 500 to 54,500.
The youth unemployment rate rose to 12.3 percent from 12 percent in the previous month.
Unemployment has fallen sharply since the jobless rate hit a high of 15.2 percent in January 2012.
