Mozambican Inflation Rate Decelerates to 4.58% in July

In July of 2013, Mozambique’s inflation rate slowed to 4.58 percent, from 4.86 percent in June. Inflation a year ago was recorded at 5.5 percent.

After the floods that hit the country in the beginning of the year, the inflation rate slowed in July for the second consecutive month, mainly due to the Metical stability in the domestic foreign exchange market and the recovery of domestic production of fruits and vegetables.

From June to July, the inflation rate in Mozambique decreased 0.23 percent, after dropping by 0.38 percent in June. Prices declined in Maputo, Beira and Nampula.
