Year-on-year, prices moderated for: food & non-alcoholic beverages (+3.8 percent in July from +4.2 percent in June); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (+19.9 percent from +21.9 percent); furnishing, household equipment & routine maintenance (+1.5 percent from +1.7 percent) and restaurants & hotels (+2.1 percent from +2.2 percent). Prices rose at a faster pace for: recreation services & culture (+1.7 percent from +1.4 percent), education (+2.2 percent from +2.1 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (+2.4 percent from +2.3 percent). In contrast, cost declined for clothing & footwear (-0.6 percent from -0.6 percent), transport (-9.9 percent from -8.5 percent) and communication (-2.3 percent from -2.2 percent). Prices were steady for housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (+2.4 percent) and health (+2.0 percent).
Among food & non-alcoholic beverages, customers had to pay more for: food (+3.9 percent in July from +4.4 percent in June); food at home (+4.2 percent from +4.9 percent); rice, bread & other cereals (+0.7 percent from +0.8 percent); meat (+2.2 percent from +0.3 percent); fish & seafood (+7.0 percent from +2.2 percent); milk & eggs (+1.2 percent from +2.2 percent), oils & fats (+0.4 percent from +0.1 percent), fruits (+4.5 percent from +5.6 percent); vegetables (+6.3 percent from +12.5 percent); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate & confectionary (+1.9 percent from +1.7 percent); food products (+5.8 percent from +5.8 percent), food away from home (+3.1 percent from +3.6 percent) and coffee, tea, cocoa & non-alcoholic beverages (+0.5 percent from +0.7 percent).
Core consumer prices rose 2.0 percent year-on-year in July, slowing slightly from a 2.1 percent increase in June.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.3 percent, after gaining 0.2 percent in a month earlier. Prices were higher for: food & non-alcoholic beverages (+0.2 percent), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (+0.1 percent); housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (+0.3 percent); furnishing, household equipment & routine maintenance (+0.2 percent), health (+0.1 percent), transport (+1.5 percent), education (+0.2 percent) recreation services & culture (+0.5 percent) and misecellaneous goods & services (+0.4 percent). In contrast, downward prices pressures came from clothing & footwear (-0.2 percent). Prices remained unchanged for communication.
