Irish Unemployment Rate Lowest Since December 2008

Irish seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained unchanged at 9.5 percent for the third consecutive month in August of 2015. A year ago the unemployment rate was at 11.1 percent.

The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 206,500 in August 2015, an increase of 400 when compared to the July 2015 figure or a decrease of 32,200 when compared to August 2014. 

While seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for males decreased to 10.6 percent from 10.7 percent in July, for females it remained unchanged at 8.1 percent. The number of males unemployed was 127,000 (unchanged when compared to July), while the number of females unemployed increased by 400 to 79,500.

Youth unemployment rate was 20.7 percent, unchanged from last month rate.
