In July, exports were slightly up to €93.4 billion from €92.7 billion in June and broadly unchanged from €93.5 billion a year earlier. Compared with July 2012, shipments to the EU countries increased by 0.8 percent to €52.3 billion of which €33.6 billion (-0.7 percent) were dispatched to the Euro Area. Sales to EU countries not belonging to the Euro area reached € 18.6 billion (+3.6 percent), while exports of goods to countries outside the European Union amounted to € 41.2 billion (-1.0 percent).
Imports increased slightly to €77.3 billion from €75.7 billion in the previous month. Imports from the EU totalled €49.6 billion of which €35.3 billion came from the Euro Area. Purchases from non-European Union Members decreased 1.7 percent on the year to €14.3 billion.
