Switzerland Inflation Down to 8-Month Low


The annual inflation rate in Switzerland decelerated 0.1 percent in September of 2014 from 0.1 percent increase in the previous month. The rate was the lowest since February this year and below market forecasts.

Year-on-year, prices of communications recorded the highest drop (-2.6 percent), followed by transport (-1.4 percent) and health (-1.2 percent). In contrast, cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose the most (+1.3 percent).

On a monthly basis, the Swiss Consumer Price Index registered an increase of 0.1 percent in September 2014 and reached 99.1 points (December 2010=100).
