Turkey Trade Deficit Narrows in September


The Turkish trade gap decreased by 46.6 percent to USD3.74 billion in September of 2015, compared to a USD6.93 billion shortfall a year earlier and in line with market expectations. It is the smallest deficit since February 2010.

Exports fell 14.2 percent year-on-year to USD 11.659 billion, with sales to the European Union decreasing 7.7 percent. Imports shrank 25.2 percent to USD 15.401 billion. The main partner country for exports in September was Germany (USD1.138 billion), followed by UK (USD959 million), Iraq (USD607 million) and Italy (USD583 million)

In August, the country posted a USD 4.89 billion trade deficit.
