Euro Area GDP Growth Slows to 0.1% QoQ in Q3

In the third quarter of 2013, the GDP in the EU 17 expanded 0.1 percent over the previous quarter, down from 0.3 percent recorded in the previous three-month period, according to flash estimates published by the Eurostat.

In the EU 28, the GDP rose 0.2 percent quarter-on-quarter and 0.3 percent in both zones. 

Within the Euro Area, Cyprus' economy contracted the most (-0.8 percent qoq), followed by Italy and France (-0.1 percent qoq each). In contrast, Finland recorded the highest growth rate (0.4 percent qoq), followed by Belgium and Germany (0.3 percent each). 

Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP fell by 0.4 percent in the euro area and rose by 0.1 percent in the EU28, after -0.6 percent and -0.2 percent respectively in the previous quarter.
