The number of unemployed people was 434 thousand, 29 thousand fewer than in the same period of 2012, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 percentage point to 9.8 percent. The number of unemployed women was 199 thousand, their unemployment rate was 9.8 percent, 0.6 percentage point lower than a year earlier. The number of unemployed men stood at 234 thousand, their jobless rate was 9.8 percent, 0.8 percentage point lower when compared with the same period last year.
55.5 percent of unemployed people had been searching for a job for one year or more. The average duration of unemployment was 19.6 months.
In August–October 2013, the number of employed people was 3,992 thousand, 57 thousand more than a year ago.
The employment rate of people aged 15–74 increased by 0.8 percentage points and stood at 52.3 percent.
