Italian Inflation Rate Decreases Further to 0.6% in November


In November, Italy's consumer prices rose 0.6 percent, down from 0.8 percent in October. It is the lowest annual change since October of 2009. The slowdown was mainly due to falling communications, transport and energy costs.

Prices of communications fell 9.3 percent year-on-year (down from -8.3 percent a month earlier). Transport costs rose 0.4 percent and housing, water, electricity and gas prices change slowed to 0.3 percent (from +0.4 percent in October). Energy prices fell 3.2 percent.

The biggest upward pressures on the overall index came from restaurants and hotels (+1.4 percent), education (+1.3 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.2 percent). Overall services prices were up by 1.1 percent.
