Russian Inflation Rate at 10-Month Low


Consumer prices in Russia increased by 15.0 percent year-on-year in November of 2015, following a 15.6 percent growth in the previous month, as cost of food, housing and transportation rose at a slower pace while clothing and footwear prices went up.

Year-on-year, cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 17.7 percent (+19.0 percent in October); cost of housing and utilities rose by 10.6 percent (+12.3 percent in October) and prices of transportation went up by 12.0 percent (+12.2 percent in October). Additional upward pressure came from: clothing and footwear (+13.3 percent); recreation and culture (+20.7 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+13.6 percent); and furnishings and household equipment (+19.0 percent).

Meanwhile, annual core inflation rate went down to 15.9 percent in November from 16.4 percent in the previous month.

On a monthly basis, inflation went up to 0.8 percent, from 0.7 percent in the previous month, boosted by higher prices of food (+1.3 percent), transportation (+0.3 percent), housing and utilities (+0.1 percent), clothing (+1.2 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.8 percent) and furnishings (+0.7 percent).
