Dutch Unemployment Rate Falls to 8.2% in November


In November, Netherlands’ jobless rate dropped for the second successive month to 8.2 percent, down from 8.5 percent in October. The number of unemployed fell by 21 thousand persons over a month earlier.

The number of new unemployment benefits increased by 11 thousand to 419 thousand persons. The number of unemployed fell by 21 thousand over the previous month due to an increase in the number of people retiring from the labour market.

The increase in unemployment benefits occurred mainly in seasonally sensitive sectors such as agriculture, hospitality and construction. The number of current unemployment benefits for young people (up to 25 years) increased by 6 percent.
