Costa Rica Unemployment Rate Rises to 11.3%
The unemployment rate in Costa Rica rose to 11.3 percent in the first quarter of 2019 from 10.3 percent in the same period in the previous year, as the number of unemployed increased by 47.2 thousand to 276.3 thousand, while employment advanced 167.1 thousand to 2.171 million. The employment rate went up to 55.4 percent from 51.8 percent a year earlier, and the activity rate rose to 62.4 percent from 57.7 percent.
