Estonia Producer Prices Change at -0.20 percent  
Estonian producer prices dropped by 0.2 percent year-on-year in July 2019, reversing a 0.5 percent rise in the previous month. It is the first decline in producer prices since September 2016, mainly due to a sharp fall in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply prices (-7.2 percent vs -5.4 percent in June). In addition, mining and quarrying prices went up softer (6.5 percent vs 7.5 percent), while prices of manufacturing were flat (vs 0.3 percent). Meantime, cost of water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation increased by 0.9 percent, after a flat reading in June. On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up 0.1 in July, the same pace as in a month earlier.

Estonia's annual inflation rate decreased to 2.1 percent in July 2019 from 2.4 percent in the previous month. This was the lowest inflation rate since February, as inflation slowed for both housing (1.2 percent vs 2.9 percent in June) and recreation and culture (5.2 percent vs 6.0 percent). In addition, transport prices fell more than a month earlier (-0.8 percent vs -0.2 percent), due to a drop in petrol prices (-1.7 percent) and diesel (-0.2 percent). On the other hand, prices increased faster for: food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.4 percent from 3.1 percent); household goods (3.2 percent vs 1.7 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.2 percent vs 2.5 percent); and clothing (2.2 percent vs 0.8 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.1 percent, after a 0.2 percent rise in the prior month. This was the first monthly decline in consumer prices since January.

Estonia GDP Annual Growth Rate at 4.50 percent  
The Estonian economy advanced 4.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, following an upwardly revised 4.3 percent growth in the previous period. It was the highest annual growth rate since the last quarter 2017, amid a strong rise in government spending (5.4% vs 2.2% in Q4). Also, net exports contributed positively to the GDP growth, as exports grew by 4.6 percent (vs 5.9%), while imports rose at a softer 3.8 percent (vs 6.5%). Meantime, both fixed investment (17.1% vs 17.7%) and private consumption (2.8% vs 5.5%) continued to increase. On the production side, the main contributors to economic growth were information and communication; professional, scientific & technical activities; information & communication; wholesale and retail trade, agriculture, forestry, and fishing, and transportation & storage. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the GDP went up by 0.5 percent in the first quarter, slowing from a downwardly revised 2.1 percent growth in fourth quarter.
