The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area climbed 6.1 points from the previous month to -11.1 in September 2020, easily beating market expectations of -15.7 but remaining far below its February level. Managers became much less negative about the past business situation and past demand, while their demand expectations waned for the second month in a row.

The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area increased sharply by a third month in a row to -17.2 in August 2020, easily beating market expectations of -24.4, but remaining well below pre-pandemic levels. Managers' assessment of both the business situation and demand over the last 3 months improved, while their demand expectations slipped for the first time in four months.

Eurozone Services Sentiment Weaker than Forecast in June
The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area rose by 8.0 points to -35.6 in June, recovering slightly from a record low of -43.6 in May but still well below market expectations of -25.4. There was the second month of rallying demand expectations, which were, this time around, coupled with a comparatively small deterioration of past demand and assessments of the past business situation edging up. The latter hints at the expected recovery starting to gain traction.
