Exports from Hong Kong went down 1.3 percent over a year earlier to HKD 305.6 billion in June 2020, as sales declined for miscellaneous manufactured articles (-29.7%); non-metallic mineral manufactures (-35.4%); articles of apparel & clothing accessories (-45.4%) and photographic apparatus, equipment and supplies, optical goods, watches and clocks (-37.3%). Meanwhile, sales rose for electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and electrical parts thereof (12.3%) and office machines and automatic data processing machines (19.3%). Exports to Asia as a whole grew by 2.1%, in particular Taiwan (+21.6%) and the mainland of China (+8.8%), but fell to India (-38.3%), the Philippines (-29.4%), Thailand (-20.1%), Japan (-17.9%) and Korea (-15.6%). Apart from destinations in Asia, exports dropped to the UK (-36.2%), the USA (-21.4%) and Germany (-17.0%).
