Hungary Wage Growth Slows to 9-Month Low
Hungary's gross average wages increased 9.2 percent year-on-year to HUF 375,232 in January 2020, easing from a 13.1 percent rise in the previous month. That was the smallest gain in wages since April last year, as earnings advanced at a softer pace in both the private (8.6 percent vs 13.2 percent) and public sectors (11.0 percent vs 11.5 percent).

Hungary Gross Wage Growth Slows in December
Average gross wages in Hungary increased 13.1 percent year-on-year to HUF 406,400 in December 2019, after a 13.6 percent rise in the previous month, mainly driven by the increase of non-regular earnings such as bonuses and premiums. Average net earnings were HUF 270,200 excluding tax benefits and HUF 278,000 including them. Wages advanced at a softer pace in the public sector (11.5 percent vs 19.2 percent in November), while in the private went up further (13.2 percent vs 12.1 percent). Considering 2019 as a whole, average gross earnings were 11.4 percent higher than in 2018.

Hungary Gross Wages Rise the Most in 2-1/2-Years
Average gross wages in Hungary rose 13.9 percent year-on-year to HUF 403,500 in November of 2019, following an 11.6 percent rise in October. It is the biggest gain in wages since June of 2017, mainly due to non-regular earnings such as bonuses and premiums. Average net earnings were HUF 268,300 excluding tax benefits and HUF 275,900 including them. Considering January–November 2019, average gross earnings went up 11.2 percent to HUF 364,300 and average net earnings also increased 11.2 percent to HUF 242,300.
