Japan's all industry activity index dropped by 0.6 percent month-over-month in February 2020, after a downwardly revised 0.6 percent rise in January. It was the first contraction in all industry activity since last October, as output shrank in all activities: construction (-1.6 percent vs 1.2 percent in January); tertiary industry (-0.6 percent vs 0.3 percent); and the industrial sector (-0.3 percent vs 2 percent). On a yearly basis, the all industry activity index fell 2.1 percent in February, after an upwardly revised 1.8 percent fall in January.
