Kosovo Producer Inflation Slows to Over 1-Year Low
Producer prices in Kosovo increased 1.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2019, easing from an upwardly revised 2.1% rise in the previous period. It was the smallest producer inflation since the first quarter of 2018, as prices declined for metal ore extraction (-6.8%), production of metals (5.8%), manufacture of electrical equipment (-5.8%), manufacture of chemical products (-5.3%) and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-2.6%). On the other hand, increases were seen for: production of non-metallic mineral products (10.5%), production of food products (5.6%), manufacture of beverages (4.3%), manufacture of furniture (3.5%), manufacture of machinery and equipment p.k.t (2.7%) and manufacture of rubber and plastic (0.9%).

Kosovo Producer Inflation Accelerates in Q1
Producer prices in Kosovo increased 1.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, following a 1.3 percent rise in the previous quarter. Prices advanced faster for non-metallic mineral products (6.0 percent vs 5.8 percent in Q4); food (5.7 percent vs 3.8 percent); furniture production (4.2 percent vs 3.9 percent); electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (2.4 percent vs 0.1 percent) and for rubber & plastic products (1.3 percent vs 1.1 percent). On the other hand, cost slowed for machinery & equipment (4.6 percent vs 5.8 percent) and metal production (1.2 percent vs 4.2 percent) while metal mining continued to fall (-16 percent vs -10.3 percent). Compared to the previous quarter, producer prices declined 0.4 percent, after a 1 percent gain in the fourth quarter of 2018.
