The Central Bank of Liberia cut its benchmark interest rate by 50 bps to 25% during its May 2020 meeting, after keeping it at 30% in February. The decision came against the backdrop of the Covid-19 crisis and the resulting disruption in both global and domestic activities. The Liberian economy, which contracted 2.5% in 2019 amid weak performance of the non-mining sectors, is expected to be hit by the global pandemic, largely on account of supply-side constraints. However, inflation has been falling since October 2019 and it is seen decelerating further in the second quarter.

Interest Rate in Liberia averaged 15.80 percent from 2019 until 2020, reaching an all time high of 30 percent in November of 2019 and a record low of 4 percent in April of 2019.
