Macedonia Retail Trade Growth Slows to 9-Month Low of 4.4%
Retail Sales in Macedonia increased 4.4 percent year-on-year in January of 2020, easing from a 11.1 percent jump in the previous month. It was the lowest annual gain in retail trade since April, as sales slowed for food, beverages & tobacco (1.2 percent vs 9.1 percent in December) and non-food products (2.2 percent vs 24.1 percent). Meanwhile, sales of automotive fuel rebounded (4.6 percent vs -11.6 percent).

Macedonia retail trade surged 11.1 percent year-on-year in December of 2019, up from a 10.6 percent rise in the previous month. It is the biggest monthly gain since March 2016, boosted by sales of food, beverages & tobacco (9.1 percent vs 6.2 percent in November) and non-food products (24.1 percent vs 23 percent).
