Macedonia Jobless Rate Falls to New Low of 16.6%
The unemployment rate in Macedonia dropped to 16.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019 from 19.4 percent in the same period of the previous year. It was the lowest jobless rate since the series began in 2004, as the number of unemployed decreased by 24.6 thousand to 161,242 and the number of employed rose by 35.6 thousand to 807,362. Meantime, the activity rate went up to 57.5 percent from 56.9 percent in Q4 2018 and the employment rate also increased to 47.9 percent from 45.9 percent in the same period a year ago.
