Mauritius Tourist Arrivals Fall 3.8% YoY in December
The number of foreigners visiting Mauritius declined 3.8 percent from a year ago to 152.098 thousand in December 2019, mainly due to lower arrivals from South Africa (-18.2 percent to 19.2 thousand), the UK (-13.4 percent to 12.9 thousand) and Germany (-11.7 percent to 12.8 thousand). Conversely, main increases were recorded from France (6.7 percent to 35.1 thousand) and Reunion Island (5.9 percent to 15.5 thousand). Considering the first eleven months of the year, the number of foreigners went down 1.1 percent to 1,383.488 thousand.

The number of foreigners visiting Mauritius decreased 2.7 percent from a year ago to 128.730 in November 2019, mainly due to lower arrivals from Germany (-5.1 percent to 16.3 thousand), the UK (-13.2 percent to 14.2 thousand) and South Africa (-22.2 percent to 6.4 thousand). In contrast, main increases were registered from France (8.1 percent to 33.7 thousand) and Reunion Island (10.4 percent to 6.8 thousand). Considering the first eleven months of the year, the number of foreigners went down 0.8 percent to 1,231.4 thousand.

The number of foreigners visiting Mauritius fell 3.8 percent from a year ago to 129.018 thousand in October 2019. This is the largest decline in tourist arrivals since May, amid lower arrivals from Reunion Island (-5.1 percent to 16.6 thousand), the UK (-13 percent to 14.4 thousand), Germany (-13.1 percent to 11.2 thousand) and South Africa (-12.9 percent to 7.7 thousand). In contrast, visitors rose primarily from France (2% to 31.57 thousand) and India (28.1 percent to 5.7 thousand). Considering the first ten months of the year, the number of foreigners edged down 0.6 percent to 1,102.660 thousand.
