Montenegro's consumer prices fell 0.2 percent from a year earlier in August 2019, following a 0.4 percent decline in the previous month. Cost dropped less for transport (-1.6 percent compared to -2 percent in July); clothing & footwear (-6.9 percent compared to -8.9 percent); restaurants & hotels (-2 percent compared to -2.1 percent); and health (-0.5 percent compared to -0.7 percent). Also, prices went up further for furnishings & household equipment (1 percent compared to 0.5 percent); and miscellaneous goods & services (1.4 percent compared to 1.2 percent). On the other hand, prices of housing & utilities slowed (0.8 percent compared to 1.8 percent) and cost of communication decreased at a faster pace (-1.1 percent compared to -1 percent). Additionally, inflation was steady for food & non-alcoholic beverages (at 2.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.1 percent, rebounding from a 0.1 percent decline in the prior month.

Meantime, prices of mining & quarrying advanced further (7 percent from 4.3 percent), mainly boosted by coal (7.5 percent from 4.4 percent); and inflation was steady for electricity, gas and water (at 3.8 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went down 0.2 percent, the same pace as in July.
