Montenegro Retail Sales Rise the Most in Over 4 Years
Retail sales in Montenegro surged 6.1 percent year-on-year in February 2019, following a 4.9 percent rise in the previous month. It was the strongest gain since August 2014, as sales advanced faster for food products (5.2 percent from 2.9 percent in January) while non-food trade slowed (6.1 percent from 7.1 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales went up 1 percent compared to a 24.4 percent drop in January.

Retail trade in Montenegro increased 4.9 percent year-on-year in January of 2019, following a 4.6 percent rise in the previous month. It was the biggest gain in retail trade since December of 207, as sales advanced faster for non-food products (7.1 percent from 6.3 percent in December) while food trade slowed (2.9 percent from 7.1 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales slumped 24.4 percent, compared to a 15.9 percent rise in December.

Montenegro Retail Sales Rise 4.6% YoY in December
Retail trade in Montenegro increased 4.6 percent year-on-year in December of 2018, following a 4.5 percent rise in the previous month. Sales advanced faster for food products (7.1 percent from 6.3 percent in November) while non-food trade slowed 1.8 percent (from 2.6 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales jumped 15.9 percent, recovering from an 8.7 percent fall in November. Considering the fourth quarter of 2018, retail trade climbed 4.6 percent from a year earlier, more than a 1.7 percent gain in the previous three-month period.
