Rwanda GDP Annual Growth Rate at 12.20 percent  
Rwanda's economy advanced 12.2% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2019, quickening from a 8.4% growth in the previous period. It was the fastest expansion since the first quarter of 2009. The services sector grew 12%, faster than 8% in Q1, mainly boosted by wholesale & retail trade (23% vs 7%); transport (17% vs 11%); hotels & restaurants (13% vs 7%) and public administration (12% vs -3%). Also, the industrial sector continued to rise solidly (21% vs 18%), namely due to manufacturing (16% vs 8%); mining (13% vs 12%) and construction (32% vs 30%). Meantime, agriculture grew 5%, above 4% in the prior period, driven by livestock & livestock products (14%, the same pace as in Q1); export crops (6% vs -9%); food crops (4%, the same pace as in Q1) and forestry (5%, the same pace as in Q1). On a quarterly basis, the GDP expanded 3.5 percent, following a 0.5 percent contraction in the first quarter.

Rwanda's annual inflation rate rose to 2.3 percent in August 2019 from 1.6 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since October 2017, mainly due to higher prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.7 percent vs 0.6 percent in July), namely bread & cereals (11 percent) and meat (15.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 1.8 percent, after dropping 0.1 percent in the previous month.

Rwanda Producer Prices Change at 17.25 percent  
Producer prices in Rwanda soared 17.25 percent year-on-year in July 2019, following a 11.85 percent jump in the previous month. It is the highest producer inflation since at least December 2011, as prices remained elevated for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (at 90.59 percent) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (at 32.73 percent). In addition, cost rebounded for manufacturing (5.38 percent vs -1.62 percent) while fell less for mining & quarrying (-12.70 percent vs -15.28 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices inched up 2.84 percent, after decreasing 0.96 percent in the previous month.
