Tourist arrivals in Slovenia decreased 4.2 percent from a year earlier to 301,853 in February of 2020, following a 7.8 percent jump in the previous month. Domestic tourists generated 129,217 arrivals in February and fell 12.3 percent year-on-year, and foreign tourists generated 172,636 arrivals (up 4.8 percent). Among foreigners, arrivals rose from Italy (8.3 percent) and Austria (8.3 percent) but declined from Croatia (-2.4 percent), Serbia (-0.2 percent) and Hungary (-6 percent). Meantime, overnights stays went down 0.6 percent year-on-year to 853,049.

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia climbed 7.8 percent from a year earlier to 285,865 in January 2020, following a 0.1 percent gain in the previous month. Domestic tourists generated 96,914 arrivals in January and were up 8.2 percent year-on-year, and foreign tourists generated 188,951 arrivals (up 7.6 percent). Among foreigners, arrivals rose from Italy (9.7 percent); Austria (18.2 percent); Serbia (11.8 percent) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (12.6 percent); while those from Croatia fell 1.5 percent. Meanwhile, overnight stays went up 4.1 percent year-on-year to 789,304 in January.

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose 0.1 percent from a year earlier to 328,088 in December of 2019, following an upwardly revised 1.2 percent drop in the previous month. Domestic tourists generated 110,056 arrivals in December and were up 0.8 percent year-on-year, while foreign tourists generated 218,032 arrivals (down 0.2 percent year-on-year). Among foreigners, arrivals rose from Austria (10.7 percent), Croatia (7.6 percent), Germany (0.9 percent) and Serbia (1.5 percent) while those fell from Italy (-8.5 percent). Meanwhile, overnight stays decreased 8.9 percent year-on-year to 797,716 million in December. For 2019 as a whole, tourist arrivals in Slovenia jumped 5.0 percent from a year ago to 6.231 million.
