Tourist arrivals in Slovenia fell 27.5 percent over a year earlier to 653,008 in July of 2020, following a 64.4 percent slump in the previous month. Domestic tourists generated 403,669 arrivals in July and were up 176.3 percent year-on-year while foreign tourists generated just 249,339 arrivals (down 66.9 percent). Among foreigners, arrivals declined from Germany (-24.8 percent), the Netherlands (-68.6 percent), Austria (-38.8 percent), the Czech Republic (-61.3 percent) and Hungary (-50.5 percent).

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia slumped 64.4 percent over a year earlier to 243,202 in June 2020, following a 96.5 percent plunge in the previous month, amid travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. Domestic tourists generated 154,448 arrivals in June and were up 2 percent year-on-year while foreign tourists generated just 88,754 arrivals (down 83 percent). Among foreigners, arrivals declined from Germany (-30 percent), followed by Austria (-20 percent), Hungary (-8 percent) and Italy (-8 percent).

Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Sank 96.5% YoY in May
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia plunged 96.5 percent from a year earlier to 17,317 in May of 2020, following a 100 percent tumble in the prior month, amid travel restrictions as a result of the pandemic crisis. Domestic tourists generated only 13,495 arrivals in May and fell 88.6 percent year-on-year; and foreign tourists generated just 3,822 arrivals (down 99 percent). Among foreigners, arrivals declined from Germany (-98.1 percent), Croatia (-94.4 percent), Bosnia and Herzegovina (-95.2 percent), Italy (-99.5 percent) and Turkey (-99.6 percent). Also, overnights stays went down 96.5 percent year-on-year to 39,478.
