The unemployment rate in Turkey dropped to 13.2 percent in March of 2020 from 14.1 percent a year earlier, as the number of unemployed went down by 573 thousand to 3.971 million, the lowest since October of 2018. The non-agricultural unemployment rate fell to 15 percent from 16.1 percent. Meantime, employment declined by 1.66 million to 26.133 million, the lowest since March of 2015, with job losses recorded mainly in agriculture, services and industry. The labour force participation rate declined to 49 percent from 53.4 percent a year earlier, the lowest since December of 2013.
