The unemployment rate in Turkey declined to 12.7 percent in September of 2020 from 13.8 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year, the lowest since November 2018. The number of unemployed decreased by 550 thousand to 4.016 million, while employment declined by 733 thousand to 27.707 million with job losses registered mainly in construction, agriculture and services. The labour force participation rate dropped to 50.5 percent from 53.5 percent in the same month a year earlier. The youth jobless rate aged between 15-24 years went down to 24.3 percent from 26.1 percent in September of 2019.
