The unemployment rate in Turkey dropped to 13.6 percent in February 2020 from 14.7 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year, as the number of unemployed went down by 502 thousand to 4.228 million. Meantime, employment fell by 602 thousand to 26.753 million, with job losses recorded mainly in agriculture, construction and services. The labour force participation rate declined to 49.9 percent from 52.5 percent a year earlier and the employment rate decreased to 43.1 percent from 44.8 percent.

The unemployment rate in Turkey decreased to 13.8 percent in January 2020 from 14.7 percent in the same month of the previous year, as the number of unemployed fell by 306 thousand to 4.362 million. Meantime, employment rose by 109 thousand to 27.266 million, with job gains recorded in industry and services. The labour force participation rate went down to 51 percent from 52.2 percent a year earlier and the employment rate declined to 44 percent from 44.5 percent.
