Argentina Registers Widest Current Account Since 2019
Argentina posted a current account deficit of USD 3,031 million in the third quarter of 2022, the widest gap since Q1 of 2019, and swinging from USD 3,444 million in the corresponding period of the period year. The goods account surplus narrowed to USD 1,145 million from USD 6,659 million, as soaring energy prices drove imports to jump by 33% year-on-year. In the meantime, the services gap widened to USD 1,918 million from USD 964 million and the primary account deficit widened to USD 2,752 million from USD 2,612 million. On the other hand, the secondary account surplus rose to USD 493 million from USD 360 million.

Argentina Current Account Deficit Narrows
Argentina posted a current account deficit of USD 894 million in the second quarter of 2022, improving from the previous quarter’s updated deficit of USD 1,529 million while being significantly lower than the USD 2,536 million surplus in the second quarter of 2021. Goods and services YoY declined to 3,065 million from 5,168 million. Exports and imports increased to 25,041 million from 19,980 million and to 21,976 million from 14,812 respectively. Primary income decreased to negative 2,904 million from negative 2,439 million. Secondary income increased moderately to 563 million from 445 million.
