Private house approvals in Australia plunged 7.8% month-over-month to 9,628 units in September 2022, matching the preliminary reading and reversing from a final 4.8% percent rise in the prior month. This was the first fall in private house permits in four months and the steepest pace since January, with approvals falling in all states: Western Australia (-11.4%), Queensland (-8.6%), New South Wales (-7.9%), Victoria (-4.7%), and South Australia (-4.3%). Through the year to September, private houses approved slumped by 10.4 percent.
