Finland's gross domestic product increased by 0.8 percent year-on-year in August of 2022, following a downwardly revised 1.4 percent rise in the prior month. This was the 18th straight month of positive readings but the lowest since a contraction in January 2021, amid declines in the output of both manufacturing output (-2.3% vs 2% in July) and agriculture, forestry, and fishing production (-1.7% vs -8.2%). In contrast, the service sector rose faster (2.3% vs 1.6%).

Finnish Leading Index Rises the Least in 16 Months
Finland's gross domestic product increased by 1.5 percent year-on-year in July of 2022, following an upwardly revised 2.3 percent rise in the prior month. While marking the 17th straight month of rises, the latest reading was the softest since March 2021, as manufacturing output growth slowed notably (2.27% vs 5.75% in June) amid a faster drop in agriculture, forestry, and fishing production (-8.5% vs -5.8%). In contrast, the service sector rose by 1.7%, accelerating from a 1.2% growth in June.
